2019: APCO Inaugurates Women Affairs Committee

His Excellency Atiku Abubakar GCON, waziri Adamawa recently made a pronouncement to give 30% of his appointments to women. Therefore it was no surprise that a women affairs committee was created to look into how women can be massively mobilized for the election and to also galvanize them into a body for pre and post election activities.

The committee was set up along other committees by the office of the Senior Special Adviser on Youth and Strategy headed by Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abass. Hajiya Aisha Mahmoud is the chairman of the Committee On Women Affairs.

February 6, 2019 was a day for inauguration of members of the committee. It was a special day as women took turns to air their views about how they will mobilize their various constituencies with the aim of guaranteeing victory at the polls come February 16. The chairman of the committee, Hajiya Aisha Mahmoud called on all women to put in more time and effort to achieve their targets, she also encouraged them to prevail on their families to vote His Excellency especially in view of the poor state of the Nation's economy and security. 

Inaguaration was done by Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abass and supported by the chairman of the committee Hajiya Aisha Mahmoud. In his speech Ambassador Aliyu encouraged the women to continue with their superlative performance and that his excellency is quite aware of the effort the women have put in so far and promised they will be remembered for their good works. 

The inauguration took place in Abuja and had in attendance large numbers of women from several parts of the country coming in to witness the inauguration.
